Harnessing Red Light Healing Power: Unveiling the Benefits of Infrared Light Therapy on Skin and Body

I highly recommend incorporating red light therapy into your routine if your looking for a non-invasive method to soothe nerve, improve the skin and minimize aging.  I have been using 2 ground-breaking, at-home, anti-aging products recently that I have to share.  First, I started using the SolaWave Red Light Wand last December.  This is a very economical way to start Red Light therapy at home.
You can take a look at the SolaWave below.  The wand is more effective when used on wet skin and with the SolaWave serum. If you decide to try this, please read all directions and follow them closely.  Speak with your own healthcare provider for advice on using this device.  I use it all over the face in a massage Ing motion and spend extra time on dark spots and wrinkles, like crows feet.  I have seen an improvement in the appearance of my skin with consistent use.  The wand comes with a demo video for how to use it effectively.

I noticed after the first few weeks, some subtle changes.  The dark spots on my skin were lessened, my laugh lines were not quite as deep and my frequent hormonal blemishes were almost eradicated.  Now after 6 months of faithful use, I am very please with the results.  Seeing the visible changes, and hearing another device touted on a morning “Deals” segment, my husband decided to streamline my routine and purchase a full face mask by HigherDose Skincare for my birthday.  I do still use the SolaWave for travel and feel this is the perfect starter device to determine if red light therapy is for you.  It is a perfect packable option to maintain my light therapy on-the-go.  I will also use it for quick bursts to target small areas like under eye bags and blemishes, that need a little extra attention.  Back to the full face HigherDose Mask.  It has significantly reduced the time spent doing my red light therapy each night.  I have been using this Higher Dose Face Mask since June, and I just love it.  Not only does it offer the skin care benefits, but using the mask is very calming and soothes stress from the day.

I started on week-one with a 10 minute session, and week 2 - with 2, 10 minute sessions; and now I am up to 4 or 5 - 20 minute sessions per week!  Amazingly, my skin has reacted really well.  My pores seem smaller and less apparent, my lines are decreasing and even my chin seems a little more sculpted (probably from lymphatic drainage prompted by use of the device).  


So let’s talk about why I feel these Red Light devices are such a game changer.     


Traditionally, Red Light Therapy was only available in the dermatologists office, with a high price tag attached.   This option is not for everybody.  I can say, I am certainly not one to book frequent, expensive visits for my skin care.  In today's fast-paced world, finding safe and effective ways to enhance our well-being (at home in particular) has become increasingly important. One such modality gaining traction is infrared light therapy. Emitting low-level, non-visible wavelengths of light, this therapy has shown remarkable potential in improving the health and appearance of both our skin and body. In this blog post, we'll explore the benefits of infrared light therapy and understand why it is garnering attention as a natural and non-invasive treatment option.  So what’s all the fuss?


  1. Revitalizing Skin Health:
Infrared light therapy has been hailed a powerful tool for promoting skin rejuvenation and overall health. By penetrating deep into the skin layers, it stimulates cellular activity, leading to a range of beneficial effects like:


a) Enhanced Collagen Production: Infrared light stimulates cells to produce collagen, a vital protein responsible for maintaining skin elasticity and firmness. This process helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, resulting in a more youthful complexion.


b) Improved Circulation: Increased blood flow is another notable benefit of infrared light therapy. As infrared light gently warms the skin, blood vessels dilate, allowing for better circulation. This enhanced blood flow delivers oxygen, nutrients, and removes toxins, contributing to a healthier, more radiant skin tone.


c) Healing Properties: Infrared light has been found, in studies, to accelerate wound healing. It can aid in the repair of damaged skin tissues, reduce inflammation, and minimize scarring. Whether you're dealing with acne, burns, or post-surgical scars, infrared light therapy may support the healing process.


  1. Pain Relief and Muscle Recovery:
Infrared light therapy has shown promising results in managing pain and facilitating muscle recovery. The therapeutic effects can be attributed to the following mechanisms:


a) Increased Blood Flow: By enhancing circulation, infrared light promotes the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to injured or fatigued muscles. This increased blood flow aids in the removal of metabolic waste products, reducing inflammation and alleviating pain.


b) Relaxation of Muscles: The deep penetrating wavelengths of infrared light help relax tense muscles, reducing stiffness and soreness. Athletes and individuals with chronic muscle pain often turn to infrared light therapy to aid in their recovery and optimize performance.


c) Joint Health: Infrared light therapy has shown positive effects on joint health, particularly in conditions such as arthritis. The gentle warmth from the therapy can help alleviate pain, improve mobility, and enhance overall joint function.


  1. Stress Reduction and Mental Well-being:
Beyond its physical benefits, infrared light therapy also has a positive impact on mental well-being. The relaxation and comfort experienced during treatment can help alleviate stress, improve mood, and promote better sleep patterns. As the therapy stimulates the release of endorphins, it can also contribute to a sense of calmness and overall emotional balance.


Some final thoughts…
Infrared light therapy has emerged as a natural, non-invasive, and versatile modality for promoting skin health, pain relief, muscle recovery, and mental well-being. With its ability to penetrate deeply into tissues, it offers a range of benefits, including collagen production, improved circulation, accelerated wound healing, pain reduction, muscle relaxation, and stress relief.  Additionally, there are cost effective options for home use, like the SolaWave and a number of mask options at varying price points (I’ve been using the HigherDose - but there’s an array to choose from) making this treatment much more accessible.  While infrared light therapy has gained popularity, it is essential to consult with a healthcare professional or an experienced therapist before initiating any treatment. They can guide you in selecting the appropriate device and treatment duration based on your specific needs.  I am sharing my results and thoughts,  but I am not a healthcare provider and everyone has different needs and experiences unique results.  


Perhaps just the simple act of taking 10 minutes and winding down, closing our eyes, relaxing, meditating or just decompressing is enough to offer most of these benefits.  I believe however, by seeing the visible results in myself, that there is something to the efficacy of these devices and they are now a permanent part of my beauty regimen.  I plan to work up to a 30 minute session, several times a week, and am even considering acquiring the red light blanket for overall healing.   I will keep you updated in a future post.


As we continue to explore the potential of light therapy, it is exciting to witness the ever-expanding horizons of natural healing. Red light therapy serves as an example of harnessing the power of light to support our well-being, ultimately paving the way for a brighter, healthier future.
