5/30/2023 Transform Your Tresses with the Power of Coconut Oil and Aloe: A Pre-Shower Hair TreatmentRead NowTitle: Transform Your Tresses with the Power of Coconut Oil and Aloe: A Pre-Shower Hair Treatment Are you tired of dealing with dry, damaged, or lackluster hair? Looking for a natural and effective way to restore its vitality and shine? Look no further! In this blog post, we'll explore the wonders of using a coconut oil and aloe blend as a pre-shower hair treatment. Packed with nourishing properties and incredible benefits, this simple DIY treatment will leave your locks looking and feeling rejuvenated. So, let's dive in and discover the magic of coconut oil and aloe for your hair! Why Coconut Oil and Aloe? Coconut oil and aloe vera are two incredible natural ingredients that have been used for centuries for their various beauty and health benefits. When combined, they create a powerful elixir that can work wonders for your hair. Here's why they are so effective: 1 Deep Moisturization: Coconut oil is rich in fatty acids that penetrate the hair shaft, providing deep hydration and locking in moisture. Aloe vera, on the other hand, acts as a natural moisturizer, soothing the scalp and preventing dryness. 2 Nourishment and Repair: Coconut oil contains essential nutrients, such as vitamin E and lauric acid, which nourish the hair follicles, strengthen the strands, and promote overall hair health. Aloe vera is packed with vitamins, minerals, and enzymes that help repair damaged hair, reduce breakage, and improve elasticity. 3 Scalp Health: Both coconut oil and aloe vera possess antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, making them effective in combating dandruff, soothing an itchy scalp, and promoting a healthy environment for hair growth. 4 Increased Shine and Softness: Regular use of coconut oil and aloe vera blend can add a natural luster to your hair, making it appear shinier and more vibrant. Additionally, these ingredients help smoothen the hair cuticles, resulting in softer and more manageable locks. DIY Coconut Oil and Aloe Pre-Shower Hair Treatment: Now that you're aware of the incredible benefits of coconut oil and aloe vera for your hair, let's dive into a simple and effective DIY pre-shower treatment to revitalize your tresses: Ingredients: • 2 tablespoons of extra-virgin coconut oil • 2 tablespoons of freshly extracted aloe vera gel (or store-bought, but make sure it's pure and free from additives) Instructions: 1 Start by combining the coconut oil and aloe vera gel in a small bowl. Mix well to create a smooth and consistent blend. If using fresh aloe, scrape the gel from inside of a stem, and blend the mixture in a blender for a smooth, easy to apply mask. 2 Before stepping into the shower, gently massage the mixture into your scalp and work it through the lengths of your hair. Ensure that every strand is coated with the mixture, paying extra attention to the ends. 3 Once applied, leave the treatment on for about 20-30 minutes to allow the nutrients to penetrate the hair shaft and do their magic. 4 After the waiting time, proceed with your regular shampoo and conditioning routine in the shower. Rinse thoroughly to remove any residue. 5 Pat dry your hair gently with a towel and let it air dry, if possible. Avoid using excessive heat styling tools to minimize damage and maximize the benefits of the treatment. 6 Repeat this treatment once a week or as needed to maintain healthy and beautiful hair. The combination of coconut oil and aloe vera is a natural powerhouse that can transform your hair from dull and lifeless to vibrant and rejuvenated. By incorporating this pre-shower hair treatment into your routine, you can enjoy the numerous benefits these ingredients offer. Say goodbye to dryness, frizz, and damage, and say hello to nourished, shiny, and manageable locks. 5/8/2023 Skin Care Gadgets Sure to Please Mom for Mother’s Day: Gua Sha, Derma Roller, Cupping Set, And SolawaveRead NowContinuing my Mother’s Day Inspiration this week, I am going to share some FABULOUS skin care gadgets that I have incorporated into my own anti-aging skin care routine. All of these were delightful surprise gifts from family for various occasions. If you have someone in your life that loves self-care and enjoys pampering themselves, even a little, these gifts are PERFECT! The anti-aging benefits of each of these tools pay-off with continued use. Gua Sha has received a lot of attention in recent years. There’s no shortage of technique videos and demonstrations on social media and YouTube. This anti-aging massage method helps with circulation, lymphatic drainage, and over all health. Holistic Gua Sha actually dates back to ancient civilizations so there must be some value to it. I use these devices on my face and body several times a week. The stone tools help relieve stress and flush the toxins. You can find the 2 kits that I have below. The second set includes a jade roller which is so refreshing used on the face and neck before your daily routine. I keep mine refrigerated which helps minimize inflammation and puffiness in the face. The roller is helpful for maximum absorption, after applying serums and creams. Both of these beautiful stone sets come beautifully packaged for luxe gifts and have their own pouches for storage. These are, each, a phenomenal value. The next device that I have incorporated into my beauty regimen, a few times per week at night, is this Derma Roller Micro-needling device. It’s inexpensive but rivals the dermatologist treatments. The tiny needles poke into the skin improving circulation, boosting collagen production, opening up the top layer to better absorb beauty product, and thus offering tremendous anti-aging benefits. After just a few uses I notice a more youthful overall appearance and definite glow. It is important to use very light pressure and keep this device clean after each use. I recommend finding a YouTube video on the proper technique. Another great product, that I would never have thought of on my own, is this cupping set. It’s beautifully package and comes with an array of sizes for facial cupping. I do this on mornings that I feel extra puffy. Cupping is a great way to stimulate circulation and promote lymphatic drainage. Cupping is touted for a myriad of health benefits including wrinkle reduction and improvement in the look of a double chin. I do notice that it helps tremendously with puffiness. I clean my face, and follow with aloe vera gel or oil, depending on the needs of my skin that day. I recommend looking for a YouTube video demoing the technique and to start off with a very light suction and gentle pulling. Finally, if you are looking for a more expensive luxury device, I highly recommend the Solawave. this is a fairly new device on the market. My daughter uses a blue light version to prevent and help with healing of blemishes and uneven skin tone. Mine is a red light therapy wand and is designed to treat aging. Red Light Therapy has received a tremendous amount of buzz recently. The heat, vibration and infrared light are touted to boost the immune system, heal complexion issues, eliminate dark spots, and help improve fine lines and wrinkles. Over time, with consistent use, this wand is said to boost your own production of collagen improving the overall appearance of the face and neck. It has great reviews so far. I have incorporated my wand, once daily AM or PM on clean skin. There is a serum/gel recommended that improves the wand’s effectiveness. The wand comes with its own USB cord for charging and packs nicely for travel. Check it out at this link These are all devices that I love using in my skin care regimen. I see significant results when I am consistent with my skincare. They all seem to work very well for me. Of course everyone has different skin care needs and results may vary. Speak to your own healthcare provider about what’s best for your skin.

That’s why these fabulous masks and gels from Amazon make the perfect, luxurious, yet cost effective, gift for Mother’s Day or any day for that matter. I have tried countless facial treatment products. Below I share some of my favorites - that I am using quite regularly these day for my aging skin. First, the Dermal multi-pack combo of single use masks. Currently less than $1 per mask, this set includes everything for the full face and works well on sensitive skin. The variety pack is from Korea which is touted for exceptional skincare and beauty products. This kits have something for ay skin care need and there are enough to use 3-4 times or week. I use them once per week in my beauty regimen Find this delightful mask set by clicking here Another great find, that couples well with the Dermal masks or any mask is the Lindo Silimask. This is a 2 pack of washable, reusable silicone face mask covers. Wearing one of these over a mask retains the moisture, allowing for a longer wear time and prevents moving, slipping and dripping. The silicone mask also seals in the moisture even more, allowing for better absorption of the serums in the mask. These covers are great for the person who wants to mask but is too busy. With this cover, it is possible to be up and moving around while wearing a face mask. The silicone cover works well over masking gels too. Find it here Next, I love these gold under-eye patches. There are tons of options available on Amazon. I will link the ones that I, personally, use below. The cooling under eye gels eliminate puffiness and dark circles while smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. I love to place these on my under eye right after a shower and wear them while drying my hair, brushing teeth, until I am ready to put on makeup. As is shown in the photo I will often move them from my eye to my laugh lines, They work beautifully in reducing the look of lines and wrinkles, in both places. If time permits, I often place them on my forehead lines for a bit too. Find the eye gels here Next this sleeping gel pack mask is perfect for travel. It comes in individual ampoules and is the exact measurement for one use. According to the manufacturer the mask contains Collagen-derived Mucin, Antioxidant Vitamin C, Natural Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid and Ceramides to help instantly nourish and provide deep moisture to the skin, Improves dry itchy skin, redness and rosacea. I sleep with this gel pack anytime I am traveling and once per week if I feel my skin needs a moisturizing boost. I do seem to wake the next day with plumper skin that is very moist and bright. At less than $.50 a pack, this is well worth it. This moisture boosting gel pack set is available here. Any of these masks, alone, make a thoughtful gift for Mom (or for any skin care lover in your life), on any occasion. My daughters gifted these comforting masks to me as a bundle in a self-care basket- which would work great for Mother’s Day. I just love them all.

I’ve seen it everywhere. So many TikTok's, Vlogs and posts touting this virtually “free” beauty aid. I eat bananas almost every morning. I use them for baking and smoothies too. Typically, I finish up an toss the peel in the trash. So eating my banana, I stopped short of the trash can and decided to do a little research. As far as background knowledge, I have been using mashed banana for years as a hair mask to soften and add shine to my color treated hair. Banana works wonders on my locks when used every few weeks. For the hair mask, I mix the mashed banana with honey and argon oil. I allow the mixture to remain in the hair for at least 20 minutes. Knowing that this hair mask already works for me adds to my optimism about using the peel on my face.
In doing my research for the face mask I found a number of sources, including The Cleveland Clinic, Health Shots & various beauty bloggers, all, acknowledge that the basis for this technique. Although there is no documented evidence, that specifically tracks the use of banana peel for skincare, there are a few substantial facts that seem promising. Here’s what I found.
Numerous sources recommend the use of banana peel as skin care, and all recommend these steps: 1. Take the fresh banana peel and rub it on a clean face, neck and décolleté. 2. Leave the residue on the skin anywhere from 10 - 20 minutes. 3. Wash the area with warm water and cleanser. 4. Gently pat the skin almost dry. 5. Follow with normal skin care regimen of moisturizer and sunscreen for day. Other sources recommend mashing the banana flesh and mixing it with a facial oil like argon oil, sweet almond oil, olive oil or vitamin E and then following the same procedure as above on clean skin. Either method is said to offer plumping, hydration, gradual lessening of dark spots, improvement in wrinkles and soothing of skin irritations like acne, eczema or psoriasis. Some enthusiasts say it’s like nature’s botox. After all the reading I’ve decided to give it a try. It’s virtually free and can’t hurt (I’m not allergic or sensitive to bananas. Do not try this if you are.) I eat bananas almost daily. That’s a lot of peels if this works. And, if nothing else, this technique is extra TLC and extra moisture packed on my aging face. All sound like benefits to me. I plan to save my banana peels in a container in the refrigerator. Just using a cold peel will offer some anti-inflammatory benefits too. I plan to give it a month of daily banana peel masks and I’ll revisit the topic with my results. I am not recommending this technique, just sharing what I am trying at the moment. Is this something you would try? Leave me a comment and let me know, and if it is something you’ve tried, I’d love to hear your results. I do love to wear fancy clothes and makeup to accentuate my qualities and hide the imperfections that I am not thrilled with. I have not, however, undergone the knife so to speak. No plastic surgeries, no injections or fillers. I do love some topical products that help a little with the lines and cellulite here and there.
