9/10/2023 Harnessing Red Light Healing Power: Unveiling the Benefits of Infrared Light Therapy on Skin and BodyRead NowI highly recommend incorporating red light therapy into your routine if your looking for a non-invasive method to soothe nerve, improve the skin and minimize aging. I have been using 2 ground-breaking, at-home, anti-aging products recently that I have to share. First, I started using the SolaWave Red Light Wand last December. This is a very economical way to start Red Light therapy at home. You can take a look at the SolaWave below. The wand is more effective when used on wet skin and with the SolaWave serum. If you decide to try this, please read all directions and follow them closely. Speak with your own healthcare provider for advice on using this device. I use it all over the face in a massage Ing motion and spend extra time on dark spots and wrinkles, like crows feet. I have seen an improvement in the appearance of my skin with consistent use. The wand comes with a demo video for how to use it effectively. I noticed after the first few weeks, some subtle changes. The dark spots on my skin were lessened, my laugh lines were not quite as deep and my frequent hormonal blemishes were almost eradicated. Now after 6 months of faithful use, I am very please with the results. Seeing the visible changes, and hearing another device touted on a morning “Deals” segment, my husband decided to streamline my routine and purchase a full face mask by HigherDose Skincare for my birthday. I do still use the SolaWave for travel and feel this is the perfect starter device to determine if red light therapy is for you. It is a perfect packable option to maintain my light therapy on-the-go. I will also use it for quick bursts to target small areas like under eye bags and blemishes, that need a little extra attention. Back to the full face HigherDose Mask. It has significantly reduced the time spent doing my red light therapy each night. I have been using this Higher Dose Face Mask since June, and I just love it. Not only does it offer the skin care benefits, but using the mask is very calming and soothes stress from the day. You can see the Higher Dose Face Mask her I started on week-one with a 10 minute session, and week 2 - with 2, 10 minute sessions; and now I am up to 4 or 5 - 20 minute sessions per week! Amazingly, my skin has reacted really well. My pores seem smaller and less apparent, my lines are decreasing and even my chin seems a little more sculpted (probably from lymphatic drainage prompted by use of the device).
So let’s talk about why I feel these Red Light devices are such a game changer. Traditionally, Red Light Therapy was only available in the dermatologists office, with a high price tag attached. This option is not for everybody. I can say, I am certainly not one to book frequent, expensive visits for my skin care. In today's fast-paced world, finding safe and effective ways to enhance our well-being (at home in particular) has become increasingly important. One such modality gaining traction is infrared light therapy. Emitting low-level, non-visible wavelengths of light, this therapy has shown remarkable potential in improving the health and appearance of both our skin and body. In this blog post, we'll explore the benefits of infrared light therapy and understand why it is garnering attention as a natural and non-invasive treatment option. So what’s all the fuss?
a) Enhanced Collagen Production: Infrared light stimulates cells to produce collagen, a vital protein responsible for maintaining skin elasticity and firmness. This process helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, resulting in a more youthful complexion. b) Improved Circulation: Increased blood flow is another notable benefit of infrared light therapy. As infrared light gently warms the skin, blood vessels dilate, allowing for better circulation. This enhanced blood flow delivers oxygen, nutrients, and removes toxins, contributing to a healthier, more radiant skin tone. c) Healing Properties: Infrared light has been found, in studies, to accelerate wound healing. It can aid in the repair of damaged skin tissues, reduce inflammation, and minimize scarring. Whether you're dealing with acne, burns, or post-surgical scars, infrared light therapy may support the healing process.
a) Increased Blood Flow: By enhancing circulation, infrared light promotes the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to injured or fatigued muscles. This increased blood flow aids in the removal of metabolic waste products, reducing inflammation and alleviating pain. b) Relaxation of Muscles: The deep penetrating wavelengths of infrared light help relax tense muscles, reducing stiffness and soreness. Athletes and individuals with chronic muscle pain often turn to infrared light therapy to aid in their recovery and optimize performance. c) Joint Health: Infrared light therapy has shown positive effects on joint health, particularly in conditions such as arthritis. The gentle warmth from the therapy can help alleviate pain, improve mobility, and enhance overall joint function.
Some final thoughts… Infrared light therapy has emerged as a natural, non-invasive, and versatile modality for promoting skin health, pain relief, muscle recovery, and mental well-being. With its ability to penetrate deeply into tissues, it offers a range of benefits, including collagen production, improved circulation, accelerated wound healing, pain reduction, muscle relaxation, and stress relief. Additionally, there are cost effective options for home use, like the SolaWave and a number of mask options at varying price points (I’ve been using the HigherDose - but there’s an array to choose from) making this treatment much more accessible. While infrared light therapy has gained popularity, it is essential to consult with a healthcare professional or an experienced therapist before initiating any treatment. They can guide you in selecting the appropriate device and treatment duration based on your specific needs. I am sharing my results and thoughts, but I am not a healthcare provider and everyone has different needs and experiences unique results. Perhaps just the simple act of taking 10 minutes and winding down, closing our eyes, relaxing, meditating or just decompressing is enough to offer most of these benefits. I believe however, by seeing the visible results in myself, that there is something to the efficacy of these devices and they are now a permanent part of my beauty regimen. I plan to work up to a 30 minute session, several times a week, and am even considering acquiring the red light blanket for overall healing. I will keep you updated in a future post. As we continue to explore the potential of light therapy, it is exciting to witness the ever-expanding horizons of natural healing. Red light therapy serves as an example of harnessing the power of light to support our well-being, ultimately paving the way for a brighter, healthier future. 9/8/2023 TRAIN Posture While Working Out: Why You Should Add These Gadgets to Your Workout!Read NowI’m extremely excited to share a minor change to my workouts that has made a huge impact! Recently My daughter and I found a great deal on a waist trainer and a back posture support. We had been reading about the benefits of these 2 gadgets and felt we just had to give them a try. We had been noticing a bit of a neck hump at the end of the day. With our technology based lifestyle, most of us are in need of exercise to improve posture. Posture can deteriorate even more with age so I am extremely aware of the need to keep things in line (pun intended). Not only is neck and upper back posture important but lower back is critical for overall well being and core keeps us mobile. Although my daughter and I have great muscle definition in our abs, we are always looking for ways to make them more flat & defined. The waist trainer hits on all of these needs. It flattens the tummy, keeps everything in line and improves lower back posture at the same time. Given all of our research, we made the purchase and haven’t looked back. We decided that the easiest way to incorporate these gadgets and consistently benefit from them is during our training sessions. Why not train even more than just muscle? After the first use we compared notes and both felt immediate relief on our neck. The neck is a very easy spot to add tension and strain during workouts. Recently, we have been incorporating heavier weight to build up a little more bulk. For both of us, the neck is the first place to tense, and in doing this you can actually add bulk to the neck unintentionally. After sitting on the computer all day the neck and back support is a great addition, even for someone that is not working out. If you are like us you have been seeing all the buzz about exercises to improve “tech neck”. This brace is another great strategy. Simply incorporating for a short time every day may drastically improve posture snd relieve the strain of long days on the computer. I am very pleased with my results so far. My daughter and I have both noticed, after less than a month of use, our little hump has improved and our stance is much better. I have included a posture trainer that has 9600, 4.5 star reviews in My Amazon Storefront. It is a similar back posture corrector to the one I have and you can find it at the link below. Photo Amazon Our second addition, is an adjustable waist trainer. Again, this is an item that can be easily added to daily activity aside from working out. However, we decided that, for us the best way to be disciplined in using it while reaping the most benefit is during our “sweat session” working out. This is something we both LOVE! It does make you sweat more and theoretically that sweat coming out of the tummy is supposed to trim the area. Not only that, but wearing a snug band does make the area flatter and more cinched. I used a belly band postpartum and it worked wonders getting the are back into shape after having my babies. The waist trainer also offers lower back support and helps with posture and stance while wearing it. I’ve found the more I have been wearing it the more my posture has improved too. My daughter is also so pleased with the results she’s noticing. We just can’t believe these 2 small gadgets have been such an improvement for us both. I have linked a waist trainer, similar to mine, in my amazon Storefront that has 34,000 4.5 star reviews. You can shop it at this link. Photo Amazon
One more major benefit of using these trainers during a workout session is that they both offer SUPPORT to areas that we do not want to strain. Not only do we get the added benefit of support, my daughter and I have found this small addition has really helped us tweak our workout in a way that we are better targeted each muscles group. Having everything snuggly in place ensure that the correct muscles are working with the use of weights. This has been a major game changer for us. Hopefully, this can help someone else out there. Please let me know if you give these 2 gadgets a try. I would love to hear feedback. I’m Sheryl of SheDo50Too, a lifestyle blog about being over 50 and staying fit, healthy and fashionable. During the summer, our family takes a break from most vitamins and supplements. Tons of research is available about the importance of taking breaks from supplements, not only to prevent overuse, but also to maximize efficacy when taking them. I have found, no matter how busy our summer, we stay healthier, as is the case with most people. As soon as we start school shopping, I check our arsenal of remedies and restock. A small inventory of natural and home health items typically make our family’s transition to indoors and crowded spaces smoother. I am not a healthcare expert, but I have shared my remedies with many who have found them successful. So, I thought I would put them out here, as they may help others. Please check with your own healthcare provider for advice on using any remedies, natural or otherwise. These are not a recommendation, simply sharing what works for myself and my family. That said, let’s get into the list of things that I do to keep our family as healthy as possible. First, one of the easiest items that I keep on hand is lemon water. This is an easy part of my food-prep on Sundays. I take a few lemons, not set number. I typically use 1-3, whatever I have on hand and I soak them in baking soda and water for at least 15 minutes. Scrub them well and rinse. Next, squeeze the juice into a pitcher and place the peels in remaining pulp in a small pan on the stove. Top the lemon rinds with water (enough to fill the pitcher). Bring to a boil for 5 minutes. It’s important to boil the peels because the peel actually contains more concentrated lemon oil than the fruit and offers even more antioxidant power than the fruit. Let the mixture cool, strain, and pour the liquid over the lemon juice in pitcher. That’s it, so simple, and a powerful immune boosting drink for any time of day. Ways to use this: -Pour over ice, mixed with honey in a thermos for school or work lunch. -Mix half and half with green tea for even more antioxidant effects. -Drink as is, first thing in the morning for a replenishing detox to start the day. -Heat in a teacup, at night, with a slice of ginger, tsp of cayenne pepper and dash of cinnamon, along with honey to taste, for a metabolic boosting, stomach soothing bedtime drink. Lemons are full of vitamin C and flavonoids that help with: improved skin, inflammation, digestion, breath, overall health. They also contain potassium. This is an inexpensive, delicious, healthy drink. Photo credit SheDo50Too Next, I prep a few items to store for the entire season. I slice and remove seeds from fresh, cleaned, lemons and cover the slices in an airtight glass jar with raw, unfiltered honey. These stay in the refrigerator for up to 3 months. Eating a lemon slice is a favorite treat for my girls and it often wipes out a sore throat or congestion. (This is a secret remedy I learned from my mother-in-law.). The slices can also be placed in the bottom of a teacup with hot water poured over for a delightful tea. A recent find that I am loving is honey-cured garlic cloves. Use fresh organic garlic that you prep and peel yourself. I fill a mason jar with the peeled cloves and cover completely with honey. Turn and flip the jar, daily, to help with fermenting. This needs to be stored in a cool dry place. I prefer in the refrigerator to feel safe. This mixture stay good for up to three months. Why and how to eat this? At the onset of any symptoms take one clove and one half teaspoon of the honey to fight off illness. Garlic and honey are known to boost the immune system and fight virus and bacteria. Additionally, this mixture can help with cholesterol levels and blood pressure as well as digestion. Eat ONLY 1 garlic clove per day with 1/2 teaspoon of the honey; and take a break every couple of weeks to keep this effective. Do Not overeat garlic, it can have adverse effects. I prefer to use Raw, Natural, Unfiltered Manuka Honey as it is know for it’s healing qualities. According to Web MD, Manuka honey comes from Australia and New Zealand. It’s made by bees that pollenate the tea tree. It is touted to heal wounds and help with bacterial issues. It’s a strong anti-inflammatory as well. You can find a few that I have tried here. Look for a higher MGO number, more methylglyoxal (antibacterial and antioxidant) for healing properties. Another easy, pantry staple is herbal tea. I like Traditional Medicinals, but there are lots of herbal brands. This variety pack has solutions for digestion, bloating, constipation, sore throat, colds, female issues, and so much more A few other items that I try to keep stocked in our home include: electrolytes, bone broth packets, and coconut water. These help with any illness as well as daily hydration and nourishment. Each of these are beneficial for fitness as well as illness. You can find all of my favorite Cold and Flu items at the link here, in my Amazon Storefront (I have included the hot water pot I’ve had for years on my Amazon Storefont. It’s a lifesaver when I am under-the-weather. Having a constant supply of heated water makes every hot food or drink, ready in an instant and so simple for anyone in the family.). We use it for tea, instant coffee, grits, oatmeal, instant soups, and so much more. My final recommendation is Boiron Oscillococcinum. As soon as my family runs out I order a new pack. I always have these homeopathic tubes on hand. They help if taken at the onset of symptoms and are recommended for boosting the immune system and fighting off symptoms of the flu. Take as directed on the package. These amazing tubes also, minimize the duration of the flu. I have found that if we feel any sort of cold coming on and take them immediately we tend to fight it off or get better much faster. You can read more about this homeopathic remedy, and shop the item at the link below. With 25,000 - 5 star reviews they must do something well! Photo credit Amazon I have learned over the years that it’s always better to be prepared. So many times, I have been the one who is sick and in need of remedies and the last thing I feel up to doing is heading to the store or waiting for delivery. On countless occasions my children have woken me, in the middle of night, needing a remedy and it’s wonderful to have it waiting in our pantry. It never fails - we use all of these items during the school year. This is my go-to list and maybe you will find it useful too. Please leave me a comment and let me know if you use any of these or if you try them. I would love to hear some feedback.

Keep in mind honey adds sugar to your diet, so monitor the amount of sugar you ingest. Please read all of the package directions and refer to manufacturers for specific usage guidelines. I am not recommending this cold & flu regimen in lieu of traditional medicine, simply as a natural, boosting, addition that may help. Always see your doctor for advice on remedies and your health. Finding foods that have a good ratio of calories to protein and other macros is critical to achieve any weight loss or fitness goals. Eating more protein helps to lose more weight & gain more muscle when you’re working out. Eggs are perfect for this. But, who knew- eggs could be even better. I recently learned about mixing yogurt and cottage cheese into my eggs.
I knew about adding a spoon of milk, but never heard of this. I decided to give it a try. I have experimented with the amount to use and found a perfect ratio for our family. The eggs come out so creamy and fluffy. I scramble as usual. The only change, is to mix 1/4 cup of non-fat Greek yogurt into 2 large eggs, and then to scramble as usual. This mixture makes a great omelette too. (The cottage cheese version leaves a gooey, cheesy, soufflé type of texture). Both versions are fantastic. In my recipe, I add in 1 tsp of garlic powder, salt, pepper and chives. This mixture makes the most delicious and fluffy scrambled eggs, full of flavor, with an extra 8 grams of protein & 8% more calcium from the yogurt, while only adding 45 calories. This is the perfect fitness meal whether you’re dieting or attempting to gain muscle mass. Plated, it’s at about 185 calories and 20g protein. The whole scramble has only 10g fat, 5 carbs, 12% of daily vitamin A, 12% daily vitamin C, 8% daily iron. My whole family loves this recipe. With some vegetables or fruit on the side it seems like a great meal to start the day to me. I am doing another post for vegetarians, I am allergic, so I am not able to eat the eggs. I made the exact blend for myself using “Just Egg” substitute. My family could not tell the difference visually or in the taste profile. I am going to give it a try with blended tofu as well. Stay tuned!!! Let me know if you try it. You can see a quick video of the preparation on my Instagram account @ SheDo50Too. This plan has worked for ME since the end of 2018, when I decided to make some major changes in my health, happiness and overall fitness. Of course, there’s a lot more detail under each of these headings. This gives the general look of my day, including: food, fitness, health, and a generic layout of how I schedule to fit it all in. My day starts, typically at 5:00 AM and ends around midnight. I start off with a detox drink in the morning and have found my best fitness and muscle building results come with doing multi-tasking, working cardio first thing, followed by a 1 minute plank. If I do this, I feel great, even if my day turns where I am able to do nothing else physical. Next up, fruit and coffee, while packing meal-prepped family lunches. After school drop-off & quick errands, I enjoy a working breakfast. Below, my usual routine is summed up in images. A few notes: I do include movement and some quick bursts of muscle building all day. Squats can be completed anywhere, with no equipment; next to a desk, in a kitchen, even on break, in the employee area or restroom of a work establishment. Doing 20 - 30 squats at a time, throughout the day can drastically improve your fitness and physique - as they work core, balance, and legs all at once. At first I felt silly if anyone caught me doing these. Now, it’s a standing joke “have to get me squats in”…I even have others doing it too! I encourage you, if you are just starting out, and don’t know where to start, just do a 1 minute plank (on the ground, a counter, or against a wall every day. Add 20 squats each day and see what happens after sticking with it for 2 weeks. 2 weeks!!! That’s what it takes to begin a new habit, shift mindset, and see some change. Please let me know if you try this. I would love to hear some feedback! Now… for my day….keep in mind what I am sharing below is what works for me. You must find what works for you. I am not a health expert, I do encourage you to speak with your own healthcare provider about any diet, health or fitness activities you are considering. I hope you find a tip or 2 below helpful! photos © copyright SheDo50Too

This is a treat - sure to be loved by the entire family. It’s quick, creamy, crunchy and filling. For my S’Mores Yogurt bowl you will need: 1 container of yogurt (any type and flavor that you have on hand) I like Chobani Greek and Dannon Light N Fit Zero Sugar 1 serving of PB Fit (for those with peanut allergies I use Sunflower lecithin (this is very healthy but also a great emulsifier so it leaves the yogurt extra thick and creamy.) 1 Serving Sports Research, Dak Chocolate, Collagen Peptides (this is a family favorite it mixes and dissolves well and the taste is fabulous) Small handful of Cinnamon Oat Crunch Cheerios (this adds the perfect flavor and crunch) 1 Giant Marshmallow Butane Torch (I love the one featured in my photo, above. Simply peel open a container of yogurt and add in 1 scoop of collagen, 1 scoop of sunflower lecithin and mix well. Top with a handful of cheerios followed by a giant marshmallow and torch the top for a delightful roasted marshmallow, S’more flavored treat. The bowl is quite filling and satisfying. Everyone that I have made this for, all ages, family and house guests alike, have given this recipe a 10 out of 10!

A comfortable, flattering bathing suit, easy to carry and use accessories for the day, and terrific skincare. Hear are a few of the items that I have been using for the last several years, that I just love. The beach blanket is water resistant, cool and comfortable to sit or lay on, brushes off easily and folds into itself and zips to carry like a tote bag. My favorite sunburn prevention is Hawaiian Tropics new serum and anti-aging line. The powder is perfect for face-touch ups throughout the day and even carries well in a purse with its own built in brush. The lotions and powder alike have anti-aging ingredients that make the skin look fabulous. They are non drying and protecting. This tote bag is one that I have posted about quite often. I love it for the office, beach, travel, and even farmers market. It is water resistant, wipes clean. It’s reversible, so mine is tan on one side and black on the other (2 totes in 1)! It also has an attached zipper bag. That houses valuables, keys and phone. There’s a little clip too to attach items to. It has a magnetic closure and holds a ton. I’ve had mine since 2017 and it’s still holding up great. I love this tote. The swimsuit is a nice mesh one piece. It’s like wearing a bikini but conceals just enough to be flattering for all of the movement, sitting and bending at the beach. Black is no longer available, but there are several colors to choose from and it’s at a great price point. For my cooler I love to pack easy snacks and food. I use frozen water bottles for ice. My family loves to pack my lettuce wraps that I am always posting on instagram. Another new favorite is a cold summer salad like this one. It contains leftover vegetables and cold rice. The one in the picture has garbanzo beans, loads of chopped, fresh, parsley, red onion, cucumber and Leftover rice. Any vegetables work equally well. Really the dressing makes it! There are tons of combinations based on your own flavor preferences but for his one the dressing is so easy and nutritious. This dressing is Tahini, lime juice and soy sauce with garlic powder, minced garlic and red pepper flakes. This is the perfect picnic food! For years, saunas have been taunted as healers as well: promoting relaxation, cardiovascular health, and assisting in detoxification through sweating. Portable blankets are the perfect way to experience both, all, in one simple treatment at home. Recently, I was gifted one such blanket and I am thrilled with the results! Read on if you, too, are interested in the benefits of incorporating a relaxing 20-minute spa-type session at home, for a fraction of the cost. This fabulous blanket that I have been using is available for purchase on Amazon. You can find it here at this link Photo credit: Amazon The disposable wraps that accentuate the heat and draw out more sweat as well as ease in cleanup are available here. I am using my blanket on a lower temperature setting for now. The manufacturer recommends starting with a minimal time, like 10 - 15 minutes and a lower temperature like 113 degrees F. I am up to 130 degrees F and 20 minute sessions every other day. This blanket has almost 3000 4 &1/2 star reviews on Amazon. It promises to detox while calming the mind and the body. I can say, that’s exactly how I feel. I leave each session very calm, soothed and refreshed. My skin is looking great and is very moisturized too. I am 2 weeks in to my treatments of every other day and plan to keep it up. My family has joined in as well, so we are definitely getting our moneys worth.
To use the blanket you simply set it up in a comfortable spot in a quiet room, on a bed or the floor and place a pillow behind the head, wrap yourself in an optional thermal blanket (which makes cleanup a breeze and heats you even more). The manufacturer claims you will “sweat out toxins & heavy metals”. It will “ease tensions and support wellbeing”. The blanket “Rejuvenates aging skin”. It “Boosts metabolism and burns calories”. All of this is made possible by the infrared technology that heats the body from within and the sauna effect is due to zipping yourself into the blanket and wrapping in the thermal blanket. Sweating is the best medicine sometimes. Additionally, there is a possibility that this type of treatment can alleviate some pain from muscle aches, arthritis and inflammation. The sweating alone can reduce water-weight. The multitude of benefits, coupled with the low cost make this a no-brainer for me. As someone that cannot invest in weekly spa visits for the use of a sauna, my blanket is the perfect at home, mini-spa alternative! I have been using my 20 minutes in the sauna blanket, to not only sweat and detox; but also to do my daily meditation. I turn down the lights and close my eyes. It’s even a great time to use a face mask, since the pores are open and more susceptible to the mask treatment. I have tried it in the morning after a workout and at night before bed. I have found that I am less achy on heavy lifting workout days. Some research states that using this type of device is most effective in the morning for metabolism boosting benefits. Other research says it works best at night if the desired results is relaxation and detoxification. I have found I like it both in the morning and at night, it really just depends on my schedule for that day. Just make sure that you have time to shower at the end of the treatment to wash away the sweat and toxins. I should note, since I am still doing a short treatment at a lower temperature, that I am not sweating profusely yet. I am sure as I amp up the time and temp the sweat and the benefits will be even more. Another important note, is to hydrate well before and after use. A bonus of this blanket is that if you do not like tight spaces or tend to feel a bit claustrophobic you can unzip it as much or little as you need. There are zippered arm holes too, which open inside and out for ease of use. I left the zippers open for my first use and did not use a thermal blanket. After noting my comfort level, I decided to zip everything and add the blanket for more heat. It is a bit more confining, but I like it. In fact, I love this addition to my health and wellness routine. Please, always remember to discuss any activities with your own healthcare provider and make sure to read and follow the manufactures’ recommendations for use of this device. Everyone has different health and wellness needs, so of course results can vary. Please let me know if you try this device and your thoughts! I love this addition to my routine and would love to hear feedback from you! I’m Sheryl of SheDo50Too, a lifestyle blog about being over 50 and staying fit, healthy and fashionable. For this some of my favorites are: Lemon water in the morning to not only start the day hydrating but also cleanse the system a little. Propel packets which are great at home and on the go. And…Nuun Tubes also great at home and on the go -f or a more bubbly drink. You can find these at this link. Today’s focus, however, is on the outside of the body. Especially with aging, hydration is important outside as well. A few years ago I was plagued with a really bad sinus infection. It would not clear. No medicine, treatment, or amount of saline helped. Typically, I used a Neti-Pot to flush away the toxins. However, there had been a recent story of someone catching an amoeba through the use of a Neti-Pot. This is extremely rare and I only use distilled water, but this, nevertheless raised concerns about what other bacteria could be forcing into the sinuses from this practice. Nasal rinsing and drainage is a form of Ayurvedic medicine and has been used for centuries. Discuss this, and any practice with your own healthcare provider if it’s something you are interested in. This, however is not what I am writing about today. On my doctor visit, he suggested that I purchase a face steamer, (specifically the type I am sharing) for a myriad of health benefits, but clearing the sinuses was one of them. Read on for lots more info! After researching I found the face steamer featured below with over 7,000 4&1/2 star reviews so I figured it must be good. I ordered it along with the little steamer insert pads and have been using it weekly since. Not just for sinuses but for the skin, mind, and stress-relief benefits as well. Here is a photo and link to the steamer that I love. So now, why use a facial steamer, aside from the sinus and allergy relief….. Facial steaming is a popular beauty treatment that involves exposing the face to warm, humid air. There are tons of methods used by estheticians. At home some even use a pot of warm water and a towel (a method that dates back decades in my family). However, this steamer, works great for home. It doesn’t get too hot or scorch the skin. It holds a constant temperature due to the heating element inside, and it releases just enough steam - thanks to the face pad. The soft plastic cup is very comfortable to rest the face and chin on if you’re looking for intense sinus steaming. For a full facial, I place my face just above the cup, allowing the steam to cover my whole face and neck area. Now some benefits of steaming the face: 1 Cleanses the skin: Facial steaming can help unclog pores and remove dirt, oil, and impurities from the skin. This can help to prevent acne breakouts and improve the overall appearance of the skin. 2 Hydrates the skin: Steaming the face can help to moisturize the skin by increasing its hydration levels. This can help to reduce dryness, flakiness, and dullness of the skin. 3 Promotes circulation: The warm steam from facial steaming can help to increase blood flow and circulation to the face. This can help to nourish the skin with oxygen and nutrients, which can improve its overall health and appearance. Another words, reducing inflammation, puffiness and potential minimizing some of the fine lines as well. 4 Relieves congestion: Facial steaming can also help to relieve congestion in the sinuses and nasal passages, which can be especially helpful during cold and flu season. 5 Helps with relaxation: The warm, soothing steam from facial steaming can also help to relax the mind and body, reducing stress and promoting a sense of calm and well-being. It's worth noting that facial steaming may not be suitable for everyone, and it's important to follow safe practices when steaming the face. If you have sensitive skin, rosacea, or other skin conditions, you should consult with a dermatologist before trying facial steaming. I am not a health expert, only sharing a practice that I enjoy for myself. Here is the steamer that I love and a link to shop This steamer also has the added benefit of Vicks vapors! A fantastic blend of essential oils, packed with healing power! Tiny packets are available in a few scents to calm the mind, promote rest and soothe the sinuses. Here are the packets that may be used (do not have to use) with the steamer. There are 2 types. One is for colds, traditional Vicks vapor and the second is a Lavendar scent that is perfect for facials and calming (soothing of the mind) Finally, after a lovely facial steaming session, there’s no better way to go to bed than with a soothing - steamy, eye pack that will leave you waking with glowy, refreshed and bag free peepers in the morning. I have been using these disposable packs lately and just love them! They have of 3,000 4 1/2 star reviews from users. Simply open a pouch and dispose them in the morning. The little single use packets are great for travel too. Leave me a comment and let me know if you practice face steaming. Also, I love to hear if you try out any of my ideas. I Have the Coffee for YOU!Read NowWho doesn’t like a nice Café Latte? I certainly love them! No matter how you like it… coffee can be a real treat. It can also be pricey - as well as sugar & fat-filled at local coffee shops. One of the first things I figured out when I was beginning my fitness journey was the amount of wasted calories and fat in some of my favorite coffee drinks. I quickly cut back on these and completely cut out sodas. There is no shortage of research available on the harm of drinking soda and other sugar filled drinks. The CDC even has warnings about limiting consumption. Not only do sugar filled drinks cause weight gain, they do a myriad of other things like ruin teeth, cause non-alcohol liver disease, kidney disease and more. Most of my diet changes were a very easy adjustment, however, my coffee is tough for me to give up. I did cut back to one cup in the morning and changed how it is made. I found doing it at home has saved a ton of money and with practice I have learned to make a delightful Mocha Latte with extra protein and no added sugar. This creamy, rich coffee is delightful in the morning and fills the gap for the barista treats I love. So, you may be asking what do I do? I have found 3 components that make this a healthier morning option that doesn’t lack on satisfying flavor. First, the coffee. I found a terrific company on Amazon, Crave Coffee. I purchase the 100 count variety pack. It consists of flavors like: cinnamon, hazelnut, butter toffee, maple, mocha, vanilla and even a blueberry (that reminisces a morning muffin) and more. I have found that every flavor is a delight! You can check out this fabulous coffee brand at the link below. Second, when cutting the sugar, I found a number of coffee shops offer Torani Syrups in a sugar free form. These syrups are available in a variety pack on Amazon and each are loved by my whole family. You can even purchase the pumps to do a single or double pump just like the famous coffee shop I won’t mention here. You can find these delightful syrups and pumps at the links below. Finally, the show stopper - for all of the health benefits, Collagen. I have tried a number of brands and flavors, but have found that the Sports Research, Dark Chocolate is my absolute favorite. My whole family has added collagen and just loves this particular one. This collagen adds an extra 11 grams of protein and only 50 calories, making my morning coffee a delicious fitness drink. In addition, it contains almost 14% of my daily iron intake and 180 mg of potassium. This is a great combo to start the day pre or post workout. Collagen also, boasts skin, hair and nail benefits - which with aging I will take all I can get. You can find my favorite at the link below. Now my “morning cup of joe” is nutrient packed minus the sugar and fat and less than 100 calories if I add milk. It’s only 50 calories if I stick with collagen and the syrup. I highly encourage you to give this home brew a try and let me know what you think. I would love to hear some feedback.
